Watch: Alaska Orchestra Plays Brian Eno’s Ambient 1: Music for Airports @ Sydney Opera House

By July 5, 2020 No Comments

I recently joined Alaska Orchestra in their reimagining of Brian Eno’s seminal Ambient 1: Music For Airports for Sydney Opera House’s digital season.

This reimagining was originally conceived in 2018 for the Sydney Opera House’s Vivid Festival program, where we play a three night (sold out!) run in the Utzon Room.

This new rendition included stunning visuals by Carla Zimbler, superimposed onto the stream.

The piece is divided into four movements. You’ll find my lower brass accomplice Cian and I in the final section.

This is meditative and medicinal music that was a pleasure to hear and play every single time and I implore you to go give it a whirl, drop whatever you’re doing and let it wash over you.

Alaska Orchestra is led by Meg Alice Clune. Meg’s a great clarinetist and conceptualist who has been involved in lots of cutting edge projects the last decade. Check her and Alaska Orchestra out here. https://www.meganaliceclune.com/alaskaorchestra
